Al-Baha, September 17, 2023, Among the most significant and stunning historical sites in the area are the old mosques in Al-Baha, which have unique architectural styles. These mosques, which were built on mountains from local materials including wood and stones from the Sarawat Mountains, are now popular with tourists who like photography and distinctive architecture. The mosques' minarets are typically cylindrical in design and between 10 and 12 meters tall. A balcony surrounds the top of the minaret, which is accessed via a winding staircase, from which the muezzin issues the call to prayer. Many of these mosques were refurbished and restored in Al-Baha as part of the Prince Mohammed bin Salman Project for the Development of Historical Mosques.
The project, which was unveiled in 2018, is committed to preserving the mosques of the Kingdom and showcasing to the world Saudi Arabia's rich culture, history, and heritage.
