On September 18, 2024, His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia, will deliver the annual royal address on behalf of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. This address will mark the beginning of the ninth session of the Shura Council.
During the event, Shura Council Speaker Sheikh Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al Al-Sheikh and the newly appointed council members will take their oaths before the Crown Prince. The Shura Council speaker expressed great honor at receiving the royal address, which will outline the Kingdom's domestic and foreign policies and its stance on regional and international matters, as specified in Article 14 of the Shura Council's bylaws.
Dr. Al Al-Sheikh conveyed his gratitude to both the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the Crown Prince for the Royal Decree establishing the new council session. He emphasized the council's commitment to supporting the comprehensive development of the Kingdom and its citizens, aligned with the guidance from Saudi leadership. He also highlighted the significant progress the Kingdom has made under the Vision 2030 initiative.
The speaker noted that the Shura Council is guided by the royal address in its deliberations and decision-making processes. Over the past four years of the eighth session, the council has made 1,510 decisions across 191 regular sessions, with 44 meetings resulting in 493 decisions in the fourth year alone. In closing, he prayed for the success of the Saudi leadership and for continued blessings of security and faith upon the nation.
