On the second day of Dhu al-Hijjah, TGA performs around 10,000 road inspections in Makkah and Madinah

During the Hajj season, regulatory teams from the Transport General Authority (TGA) inspected approximately 10,000 roads in Makkah and Madinah.



With a 93% compliance rate, the inspections turned up over a thousand traffic infractions, including infractions that were picked up by automated technology.



Violations found during the inspections included operating a transport vehicle without a valid operating card, failure to adhere to acceptable clothing standards, driving without a valid driver's license, and missing required documents for the transfer of commodities.



Makkah, June 10, 2024. Regulatory teams from the Transport General Authority (TGA) carried out over ten thousand road inspections on the second day of Dhu al-Hijjah. Regulatory teams from the Transport General Authority (TGA) conducted these inspections in Makkah and Madinah, examining various modes of transportation used during this year's Hajj season. The Transportation and Government Agency (TGA) recorded over one thousand traffic offenses, including over 140 violations captured through automated technologies, with a compliance rate of 93%. During the inspections, a number of violations were found, such as the operation of a transport vehicle without a valid operating card, the failure of drivers to adhere to the TGA's acceptable clothing, the driving of a vehicle without a valid driver's license, and the absence of required documents for the transfer of commodities.


The Transportation and General Authority (TGA) has indicated that these regulatory checks are part of its involvement in the Hajj season this year, 1445 AH, to ensure the provision of transportation services in accordance with safety and security standards. Furthermore, the purpose of these initiatives is to improve the effectiveness and quality of pilgrim services while simultaneously ensuring that they remain accessible until the end of the Hajj season.
