According to a recent press release from the OPDC, THE RIG. Masterplan is set to redefine tourism and align with PIF’s strategic goals as outlined in Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030. The overarching objectives include fostering growth in the tourism sector, generating employment opportunities for local talent, attracting investments, and diversifying the economy.
THE RIG. CEO, Raed Bakhrji, provided insights into the grand vision, stating that the adventure tourism and hospitality experience will span a substantial gross floor area exceeding 300,000 square meters. Positioned 40km from the coastline near Al Juraid Island and the Berri Oil Field in the Arabian Gulf, THE RIG. is expected to draw over 900,000 annual visitors by 2032. The destination aims to appeal to a diverse audience, including adrenaline enthusiasts, explorers, those seeking a balanced holiday experience, and those in search of relaxation.

Bakhrji highlighted that THE RIG. draws inspiration from offshore oil platforms, celebrating Saudi Arabia's rich legacy in the oil and gas sector.
