Madinah, October 14, 2024 – The Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah is currently experiencing a large influx of worshippers and visitors as the Umrah season progresses. Pilgrims from across the world are gathering to perform prayers in this sacred space, and the General Authority for the Care of the Prophet’s Mosque has been actively ensuring that a range of services are in place to provide comfort and maintain an atmosphere of tranquility and devotion.
As captured by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the mosque and its outer courtyards are filled with worshippers, with organizational and guiding efforts provided by the Crowd Management Department. The department is working diligently to ensure the smooth movement of people within and around the mosque. Special attention is given to elderly visitors and individuals with disabilities, with support services in place to assist them in their worship. In addition, the authority provides services such as water distribution for worshippers, with Zamzam water readily available, as well as iftar services for those fasting in designated areas within the mosque.
In maintaining the sacred environment, cleaning and sanitization efforts are continuously carried out, with perfuming services ensuring a fresh and peaceful atmosphere for worship. These actions are intended to foster a healthy and spiritual setting for all those visiting the mosque.
An essential aspect of the care services includes random sampling of Zamzam water from dispensers and cooled drinking fountains in the mosque's courtyards, along with testing the water from surrounding surfaces. This quality control ensures that the water is safe for consumption and meets the highest health standards. Moreover, air quality is closely monitored, and adjustments to the air conditioning are made based on the prevailing weather conditions and the number of people inside the mosque. This ensures that worshippers remain comfortable during their prayers.
Security personnel and guides are present throughout the mosque to assist worshippers by directing them to designated prayer areas, whether inside the mosque, on the roof, or in the courtyards. They play a crucial role in keeping pedestrian pathways clear and managing the flow of people entering and exiting the mosque, particularly through its doors after prayers, ensuring a smooth and orderly process.
For those wishing to visit the Prophet Mohammed’s tomb and pray in Al-Rawda Al-Sharifa, access is managed through pre-scheduled appointments arranged via the Nusuk app. This system is designed to ensure that the capacity of this revered area is respected, allowing worshippers to have a peaceful and reflective experience. These services and care are offered to worshippers around the clock in both the men's and women's sections of the mosque.
The Prophet’s Mosque continues to provide a welcoming and serene environment for pilgrims, supported by the dedicated efforts of those tasked with maintaining its organization, cleanliness, and hospitality.
