Palestinian Bureau reports on women's status for Women's Day

Gaza, March 08, 2024, The Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics released a report yesterday shedding light on the plight of Palestinian women, coinciding with the global observance of International Women's Day.

As per the report, a staggering 9,000 women have tragically lost their lives in Gaza at the hands of Israeli occupation forces since October 7, 2023.

Furthermore, Gaza's government media office reports that over 2,100 Palestinian women remain missing. According to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), an alarming average of 63 women face fatalities each day in Gaza, with 37 of them being mothers.

In a grim revelation, the Palestinian Ministry of Health underscores the dire circumstances faced by approximately 60,000 pregnant women currently residing in shelters. These women are grappling with severe hunger, malnutrition, and a scarcity of essential medical supplies, particularly concerning childbirth.

Moreover, the ministry highlights the distressing reality that over 700,000 women are enduring harsh living conditions in shelters, marked by inadequate sanitation and overall substandard living conditions.
