Pilgrims are served by a SCADA system that manages water services in Makkah and the holy sites.

To guarantee a steady supply of water during the Hajj season, the National Water Company (NWC) installed a Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) smart system in Makkah. The SCADA control center in Makkah uses a wide range of technical data and digital information to monitor water flows and levels in the sacred sites. The advanced system is run by specialized national cadres who make sure God's visitors may comfortably complete their ceremonies.

Makkah, June 12, 2024. We use our cellphones and cameras to record the water flows in Makkah and the sacred sites throughout the Hajj season. We are curious as to how these complex and interconnected networks manage the water and monitor its levels to guarantee that Allah's guests have access to a steady supply. To answer this question, the National Water Company (NWC) has implemented a Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) smart system.

The SCADA control room, located in Makkah and encompassing the holy places, serves as the primary solution for maintaining a continuous water flow. It possesses a vast array of technical data, intricately linked with digital details. Furthermore, it plays a number of important roles in regulating water supply for God's guests during the Hajj season, which occurs in 1445 AH. Everyone in the control room watches a massive screen that displays a map of the holy places as well as the locations of enormous tanks that carry significant quantities of desalinated water. The control room is known for being the quietest place of employment among its personnel. Specialized national cadres, trained and qualified to operate these cutting-edge technological systems, supervise a sophisticated system that operates around the clock. We do this to ensure that God's guests can perform their rituals in a relaxed and comfortable manner.

It is also a component of the NWC's comprehensive business and service package, which focuses on controlling the water system by monitoring tanks, water levels, flow rates, and water pressure in networks to ensure that water reaches consumption areas. The SCADA Chamber is a component of this package. Additionally, technicians use electronic sensors scattered throughout networks to monitor pressure levels. Technicians remotely regulate and administer these sensors within holy sites and Makkah, specifically focusing on the facilities housed within the Grand Mosque structures.
