Pininfarina releases limited-edition Battista Edizione Nino Fara hyper GT

Ahmed Saleh

Automobili Pininfarina is honoring a motorsport legend with an exclusive new limited-edition version of its award-winning electric hyper GT, the Battista Edizione Nino Fara.

The design edition will make its dynamic début at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, where former F1 star and hillclimb record holder Nick Heidfeld will pilot it up the famous hill. As a consultant for Automobili Pininfarina, 'Quick Nick' has played a crucial role in the Battista saga thus far.

Following the triumph of the limited-edition Battista Anniversario, the newest model tells the story of F1 racing legend Nino Farina, the first F1 World Champion and nephew of design icon Battista 'Pinin' Farina. It will make its dynamic debut just a few hundred meters from the Goodwood Circuit, where Nino won a non-championship F1 race in 1951 (the Goodwood Trophy).

The exterior and interior of the Battista Edizione Nino Farina are adorned with one-of-a-kind details that pay homage to the Turin-born racing legend. Only five examples will be created for clients around the globe. Each vehicle in the series commemorates one of five significant moments in Nino Farina's illustrious racing career, guaranteeing that each collector will possess a one-of-a-kind Italian design masterpiece.

Paolo Dellachà, Chief Executive Officer of Automobili Pininfarina, stated, "The Battista Edizione Nino Farina represents the vision of our talented design team, paying evocative tribute to an undisputed Pininfarina family legend and heirloom. An untold tale about the spirit and bravery of a man propelled by an unparalleled passion for racing

"Our clientele demands rarity, exclusivity, and the executional excellence that has been the hallmark of Pininfarina's past coachbuilt and one-of-a-kind designs. Battista Editorial Nino Farina combines all these elements with the astounding performance of the Battista, the most potent automobile ever produced in Italy. In our imagination, Nino would have fantasized about driving with his uncle Battista while pressing the car to its limits. As he did during every race.

"Driving this vehicle will be comparable to donning a superhero's costume; an exceptional and emotional experience is guaranteed. I am looking forward to presenting the Battista Edizione Nino Farina at this year's Goodwood Festival of Speed."

Respecting a LEGEND

Battista 'Pinin' Farina established the renowned Carrozzeria Pininfarina. He is the namesake of Automobili Pininfarina's first vehicle, the Battista, in recognition of his desire to construct a Pininfarina-branded automobile one day.

As Nino Farina's uncle, he was responsible for sparking the future World Champion's interest in motorsport. Battista brought his 16-year-old nephew as a passenger to his first-ever race. This ignited Nino's desire for competition, and he participated in numerous races and championships throughout Italy in the 1930s.

In 1950, Nino Farina led a three-car squad in the inaugural Grand Prix races sanctioned by the FIA—today's Formula One World Championship. In his first year of driving for the World Championship, Nino Farina won the British (the first to be contested at Silverstone), Swiss, and Italian races, thereby capturing the World Championship.

Nino Farina was a highly regarded Formula One driver, known for his fearless driving and dedication to the sport, which contributed to his early F1 victories in his rookie season. At the very first race of 1950, at Silverstone, he led his colleagues to a 1-2-3 finish, and he finished the season by winning the Italian Grand Prix in September.

Each Edizione Nino Farina is distinguished by a custom aluminum passenger door plate anodized in black with one of five distinct designs, ensuring that each client has a one-of-a-kind vehicle. Each model will honor a distinct life achievement of Nino Farina:

• The date and location of Nino's birth (1906 in Turin)

• First prime position and race victory in F1 history at the 1950 British Grand Prix

• Nino's second victory at the Swiss Grand Prix in 1950

• The third and final win of 1950 came at the Italian Grand Prix.

• Victory in the 1950 F1 world championship

AUTOMOBILI PININFARINA Has a Curated Exterior Design

The Edizione Nino Farina and its heritage-inspired paint scheme have elevated Battista's unrivaled design, which flawlessly balances technological innovation with a nod to Pininfarina's elegant past.

Automobili Pininfarina's Chief Design Officer, Dave Amantea, remarked, "This exclusive model pays homage to Nino Farina's courageous and fearless personality, as well as his extraordinary accomplishments in motorsport. It is a tribute to a family dynasty—to the man who will eternally be known as the first driver to be crowned Formula One World Champion and to our founder, the man whose passion for racing ignited his.

"Each vehicle is a tribute to Nino's unparalleled history, and each one signifies a remarkable moment from his life. These moments have inspired us to design a vehicle that would be the centerpiece of any collection. Its signature Rosso Nino body color was chosen to evoke recollections of the Italian racing red paintwork of the cars in which Battista achieved his greatest victories, while key finishes and design cues complement his unmistakable style."

The exterior is finished in Rosso Nino, a custom shade of red that pays homage to the vehicles driven by Nino Farina during his racing career. The intricate body and Rosso Nino paint are complemented by a special lower body livery in Bianco Sestriere and Iconica Blue.

The Bianco Sestriere and Iconica Blu detailing extends to the bespoke pinstripe on the door mirrors and underside of the rear wing, with bespoke graphics including a laurel wreath, as well as the large Bianco Sestriere '01' graphic on the rear panel behind the door.

The Carbon Accent Pack is completed in Black Exposed Signature Carbon, while the Furiosa Pack includes a revised carbon fiber front splitter, side blades, and rear diffuser with a Bianco Sestriere pinstripe for added exterior distinction.

The Goccia roof features dark accents, while the exterior jewelry pack is finished in brushed, anodized aluminum. This matches the black burnished aluminum anodized brake calipers and center lock rings. New 10-spoke aluminum-alloy Glorioso wheel designs are finished in a distinctive satin gold.

There are subtle references to Nino Farina on the exterior of the vehicle. The headlight unit's 'Nino Farina' engraving is completed in brushed aluminum anodized in black, while the driver's side carbon side wing features a 'Nino Farina' graphic signature.

Custom interior design creates one-of-a-kind driver and passenger environments.

The interior of the Battista Edizione Nino Farina features a custom two-tone motif, with the driver's seat upholstered in black sustainable luxury leather and the passenger's seat in beige and black Alcantara.

The Pilota seats feature a distinct design for the driver and passenger, with a custom quilted pattern and the name "Nino Farina" embroidered on the backrests. On the black driver's seat, the custom headrest is embroidered with a laurel wreath and the number '01' in gold, while the red Pininfarina insignia adorns the beige passenger seat. Both seat backs are painted with Rosso Nino to match the exterior bodywork.

Following the motif of the exterior, the upholstery features Iconica Blu seatbelts and a contrast stitch in beige and red on the center tunnel, dashboard, and seats. The steering wheel is finished in black Alcantara with Exposed Carbon, with a red brushed aluminum anodized 12 o'clock rim. The attention to detail extends to the steering wheel plate, which is completed in brushed, anodized black aluminum and bears the signature 'Nino Farina'. The interior jewelry pack in brushed aluminum with a black anodized finish extends the exterior's dark accents to the interior.

The interior is adorned with exquisite details exclusive to the Edizione Nino Farina. The chassis plate is black anodized with a custom 'Nino Farina' dedication, while each vehicle's passenger door plate is unique.

BATTISTA RELIABILITY

The Edizione A cutting-edge powertrain that achieves record-breaking performance powers Nino Farina, just like it does for the Battista and Battista Anniversario. The carbon fiber chassis of the world's first pure-electric hyper GT contains a 120 kWh lithium-ion battery with a high energy density.

Four independent high-performance electric motors—one for each wheel—combine with full torque vectoring, electronic stability control, and a software differential to give drivers unprecedented control over the power delivery and handling responses. The T-shaped, liquid-cooled battery pack is mounted centrally behind the seats to ensure a low center of gravity.

The Battista's unique launch control technology contributes to Formula One-beating acceleration, with 0-60 mph attained in 1.79 seconds, 0-100 km/h in 1.86 seconds, 0-120 mph in 4.49 seconds, and 0-200 km/h in 4.75 seconds. Battista is the world's quickest EV to halt from 100 km/h to 0 in just 31 meters, according to official tests.

Highlights of Battista performance statistics:

• 1,900 hp (1,400 kW)

• 2,340 lb-ft of torque

• 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 1.86 seconds and a maximum speed of 350 km/h (217 mph);

• Maximum range of 476 km (296 miles, WLTP combined); US EPA: 300 miles

The Battista combines hypercar performance with the cruising range and luxurious interior of a conventional GT, with all-wheel drive and a selection of five driving modes to customize the driving dynamics: Calma, Pura, Energica, Furiosa, and Carattere.
