A decade since its debut, the Porsche Macan is embarking on its second generation, this time in an all-electric form. The new Macan 4 and Macan Turbo, with their progressive design, distinct Porsche performance, long-range capability, and everyday practicality, aim to meet the diverse needs of SUV enthusiasts.
Oliver Blume, Chairman of the Executive Board of Porsche AG, stated, “We are taking the Macan to a completely new level – with exceptional E-Performance, the new Driver Experience, and a very impressive design.” Jörg Kerner, Vice President Product Line Macan, emphasized the goal of offering the sportiest electric model in its segment.
The Macan leverages the latest generation of PSM electric motors on both front and rear axles, ensuring high efficiency and reproducible power output. The all-electric Macan achieves top-tier E-Performance, with the Macan 4 generating up to 300 kW (408 PS) of overboost power, and the Macan Turbo reaching an impressive 470 kW (639 PS). Acceleration figures are noteworthy, with the Macan 4 covering 0-100 km/h in 5.2 seconds, and the Macan Turbo achieving this feat in just 3.3 seconds. The maximum speeds for the two models are 220 km/h and 260 km/h, respectively.
The electric motors are powered by a 100 kWh lithium-ion battery in the underbody, utilizing the newly developed Premium Platform Electric (PPE) with 800-volt architecture. The Macan supports fast-charging at up to 270 kW, allowing a 10-80% charge in approximately 21 minutes at suitable stations. The combined WLTP range is up to 613 km for the Macan 4 and up to 591 km for the Macan Turbo.
In terms of design, the Macan maintains the signature Porsche aesthetic with sporty proportions and coupe-like lines. The aerodynamics have been optimized for range, achieving a drag coefficient of 0.25 through Porsche Active Aerodynamics (PAA) with active and passive elements.
Inside, the Macan boasts increased luggage space, with the capacity behind the rear seat bench now up to 540 litres. The interior offers a blend of modern digital interfaces and select analogue controls, maintaining Porsche's iconic cockpit width. The driver and front passenger sit lower, providing a performance-focused position.
The Macan features the latest-generation display and operating concept, including up to three screens, a 12.6-inch curved-design instrument cluster, a 10.9-inch central display, and an optional 10.9-inch screen for the passenger. The new infotainment system is based on Android Automotive OS, offering high computing power and connectivity.
Porsche has prioritized driving dynamics, introducing rear-axle steering as an option for the first time. The Macan also includes Porsche Traction Management (ePTM), Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus), and optional Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) with two-valve dampers.
With its blend of performance, practicality, and electric power, the all-new Macan represents Porsche's commitment to pushing the boundaries of electric SUVs and delivering a distinctive driving experience.
