‘Powering the Future Toward Net Zero’ Forum Starts Tomorrow in Dammam

The “Powering the Future Toward Net Zero” forum in Dammam will address strategies for achieving net-zero emissions, focusing on regional grid enhancements and innovation.

Dammam, October 26, 2024 — The Gulf Cooperation Council Interconnection Authority (GCCIA), in collaboration with the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), GO15, and Med-TSO, will host the “Powering the Future Toward Net Zero” forum in Dammam on October 27. The two-day international event, held under the patronage of Eastern Region Governor Prince Saud bin Nayef bin Abdulaziz, aims to advance discussions on strategies for achieving net-zero emissions in the energy sector, focusing on regional and global collaboration and innovation.


GCCIA CEO Eng. Ahmed Al Ebrahim emphasized that the forum will center on the development of a robust regional grid to support a reliable, affordable, and zero-emissions energy future. Key sessions will examine the role of advanced grid infrastructure in achieving net-zero targets, showcasing technologies that improve grid resilience and affordability while supporting the shift to sustainable energy sources. Topics to be explored include grid enhancement strategies, AI’s impact on grid operations, and operational capabilities necessary for future market dynamics and energy transitions.


The forum will bring together CEOs, advisors, and government representatives from the GCC, North America, Europe, and Asia, offering diverse insights into global grid planning and market reforms. A range of discussions led by experts from GCCIA, GO15, Med-TSO, and EPRI will cover critical areas such as modern technology integration, emerging trends in grid planning, and advancements in AI for grid management. Building on the success of previous Energy Storage Forums in 2022 and 2023, this year’s forum is expected to be a pivotal gathering for global energy leaders, fostering collaboration and knowledge-sharing across markets.
