]Madinah, March 22, 2025 – The prayer grounds square, located on the southwestern side of the Prophet’s Mosque, is a significant historical site in Madinah. It is where Prophet Mohammad, peace be upon him, and his companions performed Eid and rain prayers, situated approximately 150 meters from the mosque's courtyards. The square houses several historic mosques, including the Mosque of Al-Ghamamah and the Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq Mosque, both dating back to the 13th century AH, and having undergone numerous restorations over the years.
Under the reign of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, these mosques received enhanced care as part of the project to develop and rehabilitate historical Islamic sites. The restoration preserved their unique architectural design, in line with other religious and historical landmarks in the region, amplifying their historical significance tied to the life of Prophet Mohammad, peace be upon him.
The Saudi Press Agency (SPA) cameras captured images of the mosques and the surrounding square, where black basalt stone buildings with white-painted domes and walls contribute to the area's beauty. Additionally, the area is enriched with seating spaces, wide walking paths, green spaces with palm trees, and informational plaques, making it a popular historical destination for visitors eager to explore its connection to the Prophet's biography.
