On October 13, 2024, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, hosted Minister of Media Salman Al-Dossary in Doha. The meeting was attended by notable figures, including Sheikh Hamad bin Thamer Al Thani, Chairman of the Qatar Media Corporation, and Prince Mansour bin Khalid bin Farhan, the Saudi Ambassador to Qatar.
During their discussions, the two officials reviewed the current state of bilateral relations and explored avenues for enhancing cooperation, particularly in the realm of joint media initiatives. This meeting underscores the importance of media collaboration in strengthening ties between Qatar and Saudi Arabia.
In a significant development aimed at fostering closer media relations, Ali Alzaid, Acting President of the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), and Ahmed bin Saeed Al Rumaihi, Director-General of the Qatar News Agency, signed a framework agreement for cooperation and news exchange between their organizations. This agreement is poised to enhance media collaboration between the two countries significantly.
The framework agreement encompasses several key initiatives, including the establishment of training programs focused on editing and photography. It aims to promote the adoption of modern technologies and artificial intelligence in news production, facilitating a more efficient and innovative approach to media. Additionally, the agreement encourages the exchange of expertise, the organization of reciprocal visits, and the preparation of news and photographic content that highlights achievements, events, and national occasions in both Qatar and Saudi Arabia.
This collaborative effort not only strengthens the media landscape in both nations but also contributes to the broader goal of enhancing cultural and informational exchanges.
