Riyadh, November 22, 2024 – Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki bin Faisal, President of the Union of Arab National Olympic Committees (UANOC), is set to preside over the union’s 40th Executive Office Meeting and the 22nd General Assembly, both scheduled to take place in Amman, Jordan, on Thursday. These high-level gatherings will bring together the heads of Arab national Olympic committees, with a focus on advancing cooperation and coordination in the region's sports landscape.
Among the key items on the agenda are discussions on technical and administrative matters, as well as strategic decisions regarding the future of Arab sports. A central topic of deliberation will be the selection of host nations for the 17th and 18th editions of the Arab Games, which are slated for 2031 and 2035, respectively. The decision on these host countries will be crucial in ensuring the continued success and growth of the Arab Games, a multi-sport event that has become a significant platform for athletes across the Arab world.
The assembly will also review important updates from previous events, including a detailed report on the 15th Arab Sports Games, which took place in Algeria last year. These games showcased the exceptional athleticism and competitive spirit of Arab nations, and the report will highlight key successes and areas for improvement. Furthermore, attention will be given to the upcoming 2024 Arab Women’s Club Sports Games, scheduled to be held in Sharjah, UAE, which will provide a valuable opportunity to highlight and promote women’s sports across the region.
In addition to these event-driven discussions, the union will present its annual report for 2023, including its financial statements and the audit report for the fiscal year ending December 2023. The financial health of the organization will be carefully reviewed, ensuring transparency and accountability in all of the union's activities.
The meeting in Amman represents a critical moment for the Union of Arab National Olympic Committees as it seeks to strengthen its role in the global sports community and foster greater collaboration among Arab nations. Through these strategic discussions, UANOC aims to not only enhance the region’s sporting infrastructure but also to inspire future generations of athletes in the Arab world.
