Riyadh, January 28, 2024. On Saturday, the Minister of Sports and President of the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee (SOPC), Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal, bestowed the crown upon New Zealand's racing driver, Nick Cassidy of the Jaguar Formula E racing team, who secured the top position in the third round of the ABB FIA Formula E 2024 World Championship. This event marked the 10th season of the championship and the second round of the 2024 Diriyah E-Prix.
The awards ceremony witnessed the presence of Prince Khalid bin Sultan Al-Abdullah Al-Faisal, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Automobile & Motorcycle Federation (SAMF) and President of the Saudi Motorsports Company. The second and third places were clinched by Dutch racer Robin Frijns of the Envision Racing team and British driver Oliver Rowland of the Nissan team, respectively.
The competition garnered substantial international media coverage, with over 300 media professionals from various local, regional, and international platforms in attendance. The event was broadcasted across 45 channels in 16 countries.
Following the conclusion of the rounds hosted by the Kingdom, the next destinations for the drivers include Sao Paulo in Brazil for the fourth round, Japan for the fifth, Italy for the sixth and seventh rounds, and France for the eighth round. Germany will host the ninth and tenth rounds, while the eleventh and twelfth rounds will take place in China. The tournament will then move to the United States for the thirteenth and fourteenth rounds before concluding with the fifteenth and sixteenth rounds in London, UK.
