Riyadh, February 13, 2024, Today, Prince Fahd bin Jalawi, Chairman of the Saudi Arabian Camel Federation, bestowed honors upon the owners of the victorious camels from the UAE and Qatar in the "Jethaa" category of Al-Ramz at the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Camel Festival.
The inaugural edition of the festival, held at the Al-Janadriyah Arena in Riyadh from February 18, was inaugurated on Thursday and is under the coordination of the Saudi Arabian Camel Federation.
In the first race, "Bakkar - Open," Qatar's camel "Al-Dhabi" clinched the Al-Ramz title, while the Emirati-owned camel "Ashqar" seized victory in the second race, "Qu'dan - Open." In the third race, "Bakkar-General," the Emirati-owned camel "Alwaiah" emerged victorious, and the Qatari-owned camel "Mublash" claimed victory in "Qu'dan-General."
Notably, "Al-Dhabi" set a new benchmark in the "Jethaa" category with a remarkable time of 8 minutes and 46.03 seconds. The "Jethaa" category witnessed the participation of 1,522 camels, with 968 camels on the initial day and 554 camels on the subsequent day.
The camel sector continues to benefit from robust and benevolent support from the sagacious leadership, fostering the advancement of this time-honored sport and safeguarding its position as a cherished cultural and sporting heritage for generations to come. Camel racing stands as a prominent national sport poised for global recognition, thanks to these efforts.
