Tashkent, April 15, 2024, Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah actively participated today in the second ministerial meeting of the GCC-Central Asia Strategic Dialogue, hosted in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
During his speech at the meeting, the minister underscored the critical importance of maintaining ongoing coordination and consultation between the GCC and Central Asian nations. He highlighted the shared values, interests, and deep historical connections that have been steadily strengthening in recent years.
Prince Faisal emphasized the significance of nurturing common interests to ensure safety, stability, and prosperity in both regions, fostering hope for a better future for all. He noted a widespread consensus among GCC and Central Asian countries regarding the paramount importance of pursuing peace, promoting negotiation for conflict resolution, and supporting initiatives aimed at enhancing security, stability, and development.
Furthermore, the minister reiterated the imperative of intensifying efforts to uphold the internationally recognized rights of the Palestinian people. He emphasized the need for achieving peace through diplomatic negotiations in alignment with the Arab Peace Initiative and international law principles.
Prince Faisal also stressed the urgency of ongoing endeavors to establish lasting peace and stability in the region. He highlighted the necessity of securing a sustainable ceasefire, lifting the blockade on the Gaza Strip, and facilitating the prompt delivery of vital humanitarian aid to the region. Additionally, he called for measures to prevent the forced displacement of Palestinians and urged the international community and the UN Security Council to take decisive action to end Israeli aggression against Palestinian civilians.
The meeting was attended by Saudi Ambassador to Uzbekistan Yousef Algahrah and Director of the Department of the GCC Countries at the Saudi Foreign Ministry Anas Alwasedey, showcasing Saudi Arabia's commitment to regional dialogue and cooperation.
