Riyadh, March 03, 2024, On Sunday, Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah took part in the joint ministerial meeting of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states and the Arab Republic of Egypt. The meeting, hosted at the GCC General Secretariat in Riyadh and chaired by Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar, who serves as the current president of the Ministerial Council, focused on reviewing and strengthening the collaborative ties between the GCC and Egypt.
Participants engaged in discussions regarding the concerning developments in the Gaza Strip and the city of Rafah, particularly addressing the military escalation targeting unarmed civilians. Emphasis was placed on the urgent need for an immediate ceasefire to restore security and stability to the Gaza Strip.
The meeting delved into the collaborative efforts required to establish conditions conducive to achieving a comprehensive and just peace. This approach aims to safeguard the rights of the Palestinian people and pave the way for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, with East Jerusalem as its capital. The gathering underscores the shared commitment of the participating nations to address regional challenges and contribute to the pursuit of lasting peace in the Middle East.
