Riyadh, April 27, 2024, Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah presided over a ministerial consultative meeting of the six-party Arab Committee. The gathering focused on the evolving situation concerning the Israeli offensive in the Gaza Strip.
Attending the meeting were notable figures including Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Ayman Al-Safadi; Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Sameh Shoukry; Secretary-General of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization, Hussein Al-Sheikh; Diplomatic Adviser to the UAE President, Anwar bin Mohammed Gargash; and Minister of State at the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al-Khulaifi.
During the meeting, the ministers underscored the urgent need to halt the Israeli military campaign in the Gaza Strip and swiftly implement a comprehensive ceasefire to safeguard civilian lives by international humanitarian law. They also urged for the removal of all impediments obstructing the delivery of vital humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.
Furthermore, the ministers reiterated their unwavering support for endeavors aimed at securing international recognition for an independent Palestinian state, thereby realizing the legitimate aspirations of the Palestinian people. They stressed the imperative of taking irreversible measures towards actualizing the two-state solution, including recognizing the State of Palestine based on the borders of June 4, 1967, with its capital in East Al-Quds (Jerusalem), as stipulated in pertinent international resolutions.
Emphasizing the integral nature of the Gaza Strip within the occupied Palestinian territory, the ministers vehemently rejected any actions aiming to displace Palestinians from their homeland or any military aggression in the Palestinian city of Rafah.
Moreover, the ministers cautioned against ongoing unlawful Israeli activities in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem, which undermine prospects for the two-state solution. These actions encompassed settlement expansions, land seizures, military operations targeting Palestinians, assaults by settlers, and curtailment of religious freedoms for Muslims and Christians.
