Riyadh, November 01, 2023, Prince Saud bin Naif bin Abdulaziz, the Governor of the Eastern Region, unveiled a series of strategic projects at Jubail Commercial and Industrial Ports with the aim of enhancing their capacity and infrastructure. This move aligns with the commitment of Saudi leadership to strengthen the national transport and logistics sector in accordance with the Vision 2030 initiative.
Prince Saud emphasized that these world-class projects at Jubail's ports not only serve to advance the Kingdom's foreign trade but also reinforce its global competitiveness. The President of the Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani), Omar Hariri, expressed gratitude to the Prince of the Eastern Region for gracing the launch of these strategic projects.
These initiatives are in harmony with Vision 2030's national strategy for transportation and logistics services, with the goal of positioning the Kingdom as a global logistics center and a crucial link in international supply chains. One of the key projects is the railway network connecting the northern and eastern railways and linking the internal railway system with Jubail Industrial City and its commercial and industrial ports.
These projects have several objectives, including reducing congestion, minimizing the carbon footprint of the ports, and expanding shipping operations. They aim to provide enhanced options and solutions that prioritize reliability and efficiency while also improving infrastructure and increasing port capacity.
Among the notable projects is the establishment of a modern petrochemical hub with ten berths and a storage area, which contributes to the "Saudi Green Initiative" and environmental preservation through extensive tree planting within King Fahad Industrial Port in Jubail. This port is renowned as the world's largest industrial port, handling a wide range of petrochemical products and various other goods, serving as a crucial hub for industrial and logistical activities.
Jubail Commercial Port, another significant component, is equipped with advanced facilities, including 16 berths with cutting-edge equipment. It can handle over 1.5 million containers annually and boasts a capacity of up to 36 million tons. Furthermore, it plays a pivotal role in providing logistical services to oil fields and other sectors.
