Madinah, February 01, 2024, In 2023, the Prophet's Mosque witnessed the utilization of automated external defibrillators (AEDs) in 13 recorded cases. As part of its ongoing commitment to safety, the Saudi Red Crescent Authority (SRCA) aims to install AEDs equipped with the latest technologies in the mosque to enhance safety and provide healthcare services to worshippers and visitors.
Currently, there are 18 strategically placed AEDs within the mosque, located in vital areas such as main gates, squares, and upper floors. These devices play a crucial role in emergencies, particularly during instances of cardiac arrest or reduced heart activity. AEDs are designed to regulate the heartbeat by delivering a consistent electrical current, aiding in the restoration of a normal pulse.
The medical and ambulance services provided by the SRCA within the mosque are part of a comprehensive system established by the concerned authorities. This system ensures the safety, comfort, and well-being of visitors by addressing health emergencies, delivering essential care, and maintaining a secure and healthy environment within the mosque premises. The efforts reflect a proactive approach to safeguarding the health and welfare of worshippers and visitors to the Prophet's Mosque.
