Riyadh, August 18, 2024 – The Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) is actively seeking public input on its proposed Guidelines for Binding Common Rules (BCR) for Personal Data Transfer. This initiative is being conducted via the National Competitiveness Center's Public Consultation Platform, known as Istitlaa.
The BCR guidelines are designed to develop a standardized set of rules governing the transfer of personal data to countries or international organizations that do not have adequate data protection measures in place. The aim is to ensure that personal data transferred outside Saudi Arabia maintains a level of protection equivalent to that required by the Personal Data Protection Law and its Implementing Regulations.
By inviting public and stakeholder feedback, SDAIA aims to refine and enhance these guidelines to align with global data protection standards and reinforce data privacy safeguards. The consultation process will allow various interested parties, including businesses, legal experts, and data protection professionals, to contribute their insights and suggestions.
The public consultation is open until August 30, 2024. Interested individuals and organizations can access and participate in the consultation process through the following link: [Istitlaa Public Consultation Platform](https://istitlaa.ncc.gov.sa/en/Transportation/NDMO/BCR/Pages/default.aspx).
This effort underscores SDAIA's commitment to establishing robust data protection frameworks and promoting transparency and engagement in the development of data governance policies.
