Riyadh, January 20, 2024, The 3rd edition of the Qemam International Festival for Mountain Performance Arts has been officially launched by the Theater and Performing Arts Commission. The festival is currently underway at eight archaeological sites in the Aseer region, spanning from January 20 to January 27.
Running daily from 4:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., the festival commenced its opening day with a vibrant carnival parade along Prince Sultan Road in Khamis Mushait. The parade featured the lively participation of 20 Saudi bands and 25 international bands, showcasing a rich array of 40 mountain-inspired colors through their costumes.
Sultan Al-Bazei, the CEO of the Theater and Performing Arts Commission, expressed that the 3rd Qemam International Festival for Mountain Performing Arts builds upon the success of its two predecessors. Al-Bazei highlighted the addition of 15 new performing groups, including four Saudi teams and 11 international teams. Moreover, eight more mountain colors have been introduced, bringing the total to 40, a notable increase from the previous year's 32. Al-Bazei emphasized that these enhancements are geared towards promoting and enriching Saudi cultural heritage while providing audiences with a glimpse into the global performing arts legacy.
