Qatar Mediation Achieves Humanitarian Truce Between Hamas and Israeli Forces

Sheryll Mericido

In a joint effort with Egypt and the US, the State of Qatar has successfully mediated a resolution between Hamas and the Israeli occupation forces. The announcement of a humanitarian truce has been made, with the exact starting time to be disclosed in the next 24 hours. The truce is initially set for four days but may be extended.

According to a statement from the Qatari Foreign Ministry, the agreement involves the release of 50 civilian women and children held captive in the Gaza Strip. In return, a number of Palestinian women and children detained in Israeli prisons will be freed, with the possibility of increasing the number in subsequent stages of the agreement's implementation.

The statement further explains that the humanitarian truce will facilitate the entry of additional humanitarian convoys carrying essential relief aid, including fuel for the purpose of meeting humanitarian needs.

Qatar emphasizes its dedication to ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at de-escalating tensions, ending the loss of lives, and safeguarding civilians. The nation also expresses gratitude for the tireless efforts of Egypt and the US in reaching this significant agreement.
