ABHA, March 27, 2025 — A powerful storm swept through the Asir region on Tuesday, bringing torrential rain and large hail that covered mountain peaks and roads, creating a rare winter-like spectacle in the area.
The storm impacted Abha and surrounding locations, including Al-Soudah, Tabbab, Bilahmar, Khamis Mushayt, Ahad Rafidah, Sarat Abidah, Al-Harajah, Tanomah, Al-Namas, and Balqarn.
Hail accumulated across open landscapes and mountaintops, producing striking visuals as sunlight pierced through dense clouds.
Widely shared videos and images on social media showcased roads and highlands blanketed in white, attracting residents and visitors eager to witness and document the unusual weather.
Authorities have urged caution, warning of possible flooding in valleys and low-lying areas, as well as reduced visibility due to heavy rainfall and hail. Emergency teams remain on high alert as unstable weather conditions are expected to persist in parts of the region.
