Madinah, March 22, 2025 – Traditional and modern games continue to bring joy and foster connections across generations in Madinah, encouraging a spirit of excitement, competition, and camaraderie. Folk games, especially, hold a significant place in Ramadan traditions, uniting people in the city's neighborhoods.
Among the popular traditional games are Taq Taqiyah and Ghameemah (Hide and Seek), which have been part of Madinah’s cultural heritage for years. Moataz Mohammed, a young resident of the Al-Khalidiyah neighborhood, enjoys mind-challenging games like chess, dominoes, carom, and Basra (a local card game). He and his friends play these games during Ramadan nights, adding a festive vibe to their gatherings.
Modern sports are also central to Ramadan activities. Football and volleyball tournaments take place in different neighborhoods, while others partake in tennis, billiards, table tennis, and video games.
