As visitors explore the diverse exhibits, the library's collection beckons with the allure of ancient books and rare manuscripts, inviting one to inhale the fragrant scent of history and ponder the weight of time encapsulated within its volumes.

The library boasts an impressive array of treasures, including handwritten copies of the Quran, manuscripts that trace back over 400 years, invaluable historical texts from more than 150 years ago, and rare newspapers that are over eight decades old, such as Umm Al-Qura and Al-Madina. Among these significant items, a particularly noteworthy exhibit is a stunning 12th-century AH Quran copy inscribed in Najdi script, featuring a portion of Surat Al-Baqarah. This rare manuscript not only showcases the artistry of Islamic calligraphy but also serves as a profound testament to the rich historical legacy of the region, cementing the library’s status as a vital custodian of knowledge.

Reflecting on the origins of his library, Mohammed Al-Hakami shared with the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) his lifelong passion for reading, which ignited in his elementary school years. "My love of reading began in elementary school, where I would often buy and read books. Later, I encountered someone who owned a library specializing in rare books. This encounter inspired me to start my own library," he recounted. Over the past 35 years, Al-Hakami has devoted himself to curating a collection that highlights the history of the Arabian Peninsula, alongside genealogies, folk poetry, travel literature, and specialized texts on horses and camels.

The Riyadh International Book Fair, running from September 26 to October 5 under the theme “Riyadh Reads,” stands as a prestigious cultural event that gathers a distinguished assembly of publishing houses, authors, and intellectuals from around the world. This year, it offers an invaluable opportunity for enthusiasts of rare books and manuscripts to immerse themselves in a wealth of cultural heritage.
