The Ras Al-Khair Industrial City facilities in Ma'aden were visited by H.E. Bandar bin Ibrahim Alkhorayef, Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources; H.E. Khalid Al-Mudaifer, Vice Minister for Mining Affairs; and H.E. Eng. Khalid bin Mohammed Al-Salem, President of the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu, to see the company's mega projects and most recent operations.
During his visit, His Excellency met with Ma'aden's Deputy CEO, Abdulaziz Asker Al-Harbi, EVP of the company's Phosphate Business Unit, Hassan Al Ali, EVP of the company's Aluminum Business Unit, Ali Al-Qahtani, and SVP of Corporate Strategy and Corporate Affairs, Ayed Al-Mutairi, to discuss the company's major projects and growth initiatives. A presentation of the phosphate operations at Ras Al-Khair and their significance on the world market was also seen by the minister and the accompanying group.
His Excellency visited Ma'aden's new "Ammonia 3" plant near Ras Al-Khair as part of the site visit, which increases Ma'aden's annual ammonia production by more than one million metric tons. This facility is the first phase of Ma'aden's massive "Phosphate 3" project, which will help to maintain Ma'aden's ranking as the second-largest exporter of premium phosphate fertilizers worldwide. This will strengthen Saudi Arabia's position as a significant participant in the food and agricultural value chains.
Ma'aden's fully integrated phosphate and aluminum manufacturing facility, which comprises one of the most productive vertically integrated mining complexes in the world, is located in Ras Al-Khair.
Eng. Abdulaziz bin Asker Al-Harbi, Ma'aden's deputy chief executive officer, said, "We are pleased by the visit of His Excellency and other officials to view the progress that Ma'aden is making towards realizing its vision to become a global mining champion for Saudi Arabia. This has had an impact on Ma'aden's growth during the past 20 years, as these significant projects have assisted in increasing support for local content and furthering the goals of Vision 2030 to make mining a significant component of the Saudi economy.
Major expansion projects at Ras Al-Khair and other important sites throughout the Kingdom were the primary drivers of Ma'aden's record 87% increase in net earnings reported in February of this year. Ma'aden is on track to achieve its objectives of growing ten times by 2040, increasing its economic contribution, and generating jobs for people throughout the Kingdom.
