Red Sea Global Unveils Fourth Annual Sustainability Report, Showcasing Progress and Achievements



Tabuk, August 23, 2024 – Red Sea Global (RSG), renowned for spearheading one of the world’s most ambitious regenerative tourism destination projects, has released its fourth annual sustainability report. This comprehensive document outlines the company's key commitments and the strides made toward its environmental, social, and governance (ESG) sustainability goals. Notably, RSG is on track to achieve a net positive environmental impact of 30% by 2040, reaffirming its dedication to transformative and responsible development.


The 2023 sustainability report provides an in-depth look at RSG’s progress over the past year. It highlights the company’s unwavering commitment to transparency and accountability, aiming to set new global standards for responsible development. The report details significant achievements across various ESG areas, emphasizing the company's advancements and its efforts to lead by example in sustainable tourism.



John Pagano, Group Chief Executive of RSG, expressed pride in the report, stating, “Our latest annual sustainability report embodies our deep commitment to setting innovative standards in responsible development. We are making steady progress towards achieving a net positive environmental impact of 30% by 2040 in the areas surrounding our tourism destinations.” Pagano also underscored the impact of their work in renewable energy, environmental protection, and sustainable transportation, hoping their achievements will inspire the broader tourism sector to embrace regenerative development principles.


Key accomplishments highlighted in the 2023 report include:


- Renewable Energy and Sustainable Transportation: RSG has powered the initial phase of The Red Sea destination with 100% renewable energy and established 150 electric charging stations to support a sustainable transportation fleet.



- Environmental Initiatives: The company has made substantial environmental contributions, including planting over 5 million plants in the Red Sea Landscape Nursery, sowing 600,000 mangrove seedlings at four locations, and launching a volunteer program that engaged over 200 individuals in mangrove planting and beach cleaning. RSG's carbon reduction initiatives have successfully prevented 46,350 tons of CO2 emissions. Additionally, RSG is committed to coral reef protection and restoration in collaboration with leading marine scientists.



- Social Contributions: The report also highlights social achievements, such as the launch of the “Jewar” application to foster community engagement, the recruitment of over 3,300 new employees, the graduation of more than 50 outstanding students, and nearly 74,000 hours of training provided.


The past year also marked significant milestones for The Red Sea destination, with the opening of three hotels and the commencement of regular domestic flights at the Red Sea International Airport in September 2023. International flights began in April 2024, with a weekly service connecting the Red Sea with Dubai International Airport. The “Thuwal Private Retreat,” located to the south, is set to open in the coming weeks, and preparations are underway for the AMAALA destination’s debut in 2025, coinciding with the completion of the first phase of “Triple Bay,” which includes eight resorts, the Corallium wellness center, and the iconic Yacht Club.


This annual report underscores RSG’s ongoing efforts to integrate sustainability into every aspect of its operations, reinforcing its commitment to developing tourism in innovative and environmentally responsible ways.
