Tabuk, 16 April 2024, Red Sea Global (RSG) and the global media and entertainment company Warner Bros. Discovery are teaming up to produce a documentary shedding light on the impact of climate change on coral reefs. This collaboration announced through a press release by RSG, aims to showcase RSG's environmental protection initiatives. The documentary, titled "Beneath the Surface: The Fight for Corals," is set to premiere on the Discovery channel on Earth Day (April 22, 2024).
John Pagano, Group CEO at Red Sea Global, expressed the documentary's purpose, stating, "In ‘Beneath the Surface: The Fight for Corals,’ we aim to spotlight the beauty and vulnerability of these underwater wonders and emphasize the importance of global collaboration in preserving our oceans."
The film follows the explorations of Saudi Arabian free diver Salma Shaker as she delves into coral research conducted by scientists at Red Sea Global and King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST). The narrative extends beyond Saudi Arabia, venturing into Mexican reefs, and providing a comprehensive perspective on coral reef challenges worldwide.
Red Sea Global's mission to uncover the mysteries of uncharted territories along Saudi Arabia's Red Sea coastline is a focal point of the documentary, showcasing the region's unique biodiversity and ecological significance. The film also explores the potential global benefits of coral research conducted in the Red Sea.
