Red Sea Global (RSG) partners with Warner Bros

Tabuk, 16 April 2024, Red Sea Global (RSG) and the global media and entertainment company Warner Bros. Discovery are teaming up to produce a documentary shedding light on the impact of climate change on coral reefs. This collaboration announced through a press release by RSG, aims to showcase RSG's environmental protection initiatives. The documentary, titled "Beneath the Surface: The Fight for Corals," is set to premiere on the Discovery channel on Earth Day (April 22, 2024).

John Pagano, Group CEO at Red Sea Global, expressed the documentary's purpose, stating, "In ‘Beneath the Surface: The Fight for Corals,’ we aim to spotlight the beauty and vulnerability of these underwater wonders and emphasize the importance of global collaboration in preserving our oceans."

The film follows the explorations of Saudi Arabian free diver Salma Shaker as she delves into coral research conducted by scientists at Red Sea Global and King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST). The narrative extends beyond Saudi Arabia, venturing into Mexican reefs, and providing a comprehensive perspective on coral reef challenges worldwide.

Red Sea Global's mission to uncover the mysteries of uncharted territories along Saudi Arabia's Red Sea coastline is a focal point of the documentary, showcasing the region's unique biodiversity and ecological significance. The film also explores the potential global benefits of coral research conducted in the Red Sea.

Kerrie McEvoy, head of Factual Channels at Discovery Networks EMEA within Warner Bros. Discovery, expressed pride in the partnership, stating, "Warner Bros. Discovery is proud to partner with Red Sea Global on 'Beneath the Surface: The Fight for Corals.' As a company, we believe in the power of storytelling to entertain and inspire change, and this film exemplifies that commitment."

The documentary, featuring insights from a diverse group of experts, aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the current state of coral reefs globally, their crucial role in marine ecosystems, and ongoing conservation efforts. A trailer for the film was showcased during a side event at COP28 in Dubai, hosted by Red Sea Global.

"Beneath the Surface: The Fight for Corals" will air on Discovery Channel across various regions, including the US, Europe, Turkey, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia.
