Accra, August 18, 2024 – The Saudi Fund for Development (SFD), represented by Mohammed bin Adhan Al-Shammari, Director General of the Department of Africa Operations, played a significant role in the inauguration of the renovation and expansion project at Bolgatanga Regional Hospital in Ghana. This project, funded by the SFD in two phases with a total investment of $32 million through two development loans, was officially opened in a ceremony attended by key figures, including President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo of Ghana, Saudi Ambassador to Ghana Sultan bin Abdulrahman Al-Dakhil, and various Ghanaian officials. The comprehensive renovation and expansion project involves the construction and outfitting of multiple facilities within the hospital. These include specialized medical departments, emergency services, maternity and pediatric wards, and emergency units. The enhancements are designed to improve healthcare delivery, reduce the spread of diseases and epidemics, and provide a higher standard of integrated medical services for the region. This initiative is part of SFD's broader commitment to supporting development in Ghana. To date, the SFD has financed 10 development projects and programs across various sectors in the country, with concessional development loans totaling over $124 million. These projects have targeted key areas such as education, health, transport, energy, and agriculture, reflecting Saudi Arabia’s ongoing dedication to fostering sustainable development and improving living standards in Ghana.
