Riyadh, Dec 17, 2023, In a ceremony held at the King Abdulaziz Equestrian Field in Riyadh, the Governor of the Riyadh region, Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz, attended the inaugural races of the first category of the two Crown Prince Cups. The event, held under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, marked a significant occasion within the 78th ceremony of the Riyadh Racing Season.
Upon his arrival at the venue, Prince Faisal was welcomed by dignitaries including Prince Miteb bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Prince Bandar bin Khalid bin Faisal bin Abdulaziz (Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Equestrian Authority and the Jockey Club of Saudi Arabia), and Prince Saud bin Salman bin Abdulaziz. The proceedings began with the national anthem, followed by the commencement of the 11th round for the Crown Prince Cup featuring "locally bred" horses, covering a distance of 2,400 meters with a prize of SAR 1 million.
The horse named "Al-Mubeer" claimed the top position in this category, and Prince Faisal presented the trophy to the owner, Naghemish bin Fahd Al-Ajmi. Subsequently, in the 12th round of the internationally classified category of the Crown Prince Cup, covering the same distance, the horse "May Frankel," owned by Prince Faisal bin Khalid bin Abdulaziz, emerged victorious.
The Crown Prince Cup holds special significance as it not only bears the name of HRH Crown Prince but also serves as a benchmark for the technical level required for participation in other esteemed races, further enhancing the prestige of the Riyadh Racing Season.
