Riyadh hosts 17th OIE Middle East Conference next Sunday

Riyadh, September 29, 2023, The upcoming 17th Regional Conference for the Middle East Committee of the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) is set to convene in Riyadh next Sunday. Organized by the National Center for the Prevention and Control of Plants and Animal Diseases, this significant gathering is expected to draw representatives from 20 countries.

Participating in this event will be member states of the OIE in the Middle East, alongside a multitude of local and international experts in the field of animal health, as well as various international organizations and relevant entities.

Over the course of five days, the conference will make substantial contributions to global animal health. It will achieve this by thoroughly examining the regional epidemiological health status of member states, reviewing the latest updates in the Aquatic Animal Health Code (AAHC), and fostering collaboration through the "One Health" approach, which encompasses animal health, public health, and environmental protection services. Additionally, the conference will delve into the critical issue of antibiotic microbial resistance.

Among its key objectives, the conference will formulate recommendations aimed at combatting animal diseases and enhancing the global veterinary capacity. This event promises to play a vital role in shaping the future of animal health and welfare on a global scale.
