Riyadh, September 27, 2023, The vibrant city of Riyadh is gearing up to host the highly anticipated Riyadh International Book Fair, a literary extravaganza that will commence tomorrow at the prestigious King Saud University. The event is set to welcome a multitude of publishers and art enthusiasts, promising an eclectic cultural journey under the theme "An Inspiring Destination." Scheduled to run until Saturday, October 7th, the fair will span a colossal 800 pavilions and cover an expansive area exceeding 55,000 square meters, making it the Kingdom's largest gathering of its kind. In fact, it is the most extensive literary congregation in the entire Arab region, offering a rich cultural program suitable for all age groups.
Over 1,800 publishing companies will actively participate in this grand event, with an additional 70 French publishers making their mark through the "Lire en français à Riyadh" initiative. Visitors can also look forward to an impressive display of over 25 rare manuscripts and collectibles.
The guest of honor for this edition of the fair is Oman, a choice that reflects the deep-rooted historical ties and fraternal relations between the Saudi and Omani peoples. Oman's pavilion will be centrally located within the exhibition and will showcase books, manuscripts, and various cultural artifacts celebrating Omani national heritage. The fair will also host numerous prominent Omani cultural figures and talents, with Omani publishers unveiling their latest publications to the anticipated one million visitors.
Concurrently, the International Publishers Conference is scheduled for October 4th, addressing diverse facets of the book industry and the challenges faced by publishers. Supported by the Literature, Publishing, and Translation Commission, the conference will feature speeches from esteemed industry leaders at both local and international levels, in addition to publishers, authors, content creators, and specialists.
