Riyadh, September 27, 2023, The Saudi capital is gearing up to host the highly anticipated Riyadh International Book Fair, set to kick off tomorrow at King Saud University. This literary extravaganza will play host to a multitude of publishers and showcase an impressive array of artistic creations and rare collectibles.
With the captivating theme of "An Inspiring Destination," the fair promises to take visitors on a rich cultural journey spanning until Saturday, October 7th, across its 800 well-curated pavilions. These pavilions will feature a wide spectrum of the latest publications, spanning literature, arts, and knowledge domains. Remarkably, this event, the largest of its kind in the Kingdom, occupies an expansive area that exceeds 55,000 square meters. It also proudly stands as the largest gathering of its kind in the Arab region, offering a culturally enriching program with activities catering to all age groups.
An impressive roster of more than 1,800 publishing companies will participate in the fair, and an additional 70 French publishers will be showcased through the "Lire en français à Riyadh" initiative. Visitors will also have the unique opportunity to marvel at more than 25 rare manuscripts and collectibles on display.
Adding to the cultural significance, Oman assumes the role of guest of honor in this edition of the fair, underscoring the historical ties and fraternal relations between the Saudi and Omani peoples. Oman's pavilion will take a central position within the exhibition, spotlighting books, manuscripts, and a diverse array of items celebrating Omani national culture. Furthermore, the fair will play host to many of Oman's cultural luminaries and talents, while Omani publishers will unveil their latest publications to an expected audience of over one million visitors.
In tandem with the fair, the International Publishers Conference is slated for October 4th, focusing on various facets of the book industry and the challenges confronting publishers. Sponsored by the Literature, Publishing, and Translation Commission, this conference will feature speeches from prominent industry leaders, both locally and internationally, along with contributions from publishers, authors, content creators, and other specialists.
