Riyadh, October 11, 2023, The Human Rights Commission, headquartered in Riyadh, recently organized a seminar titled "Rights and Care for the Elderly" to mark the Arab Day for Older Persons. This special day, now an annual event observed every October 10, was celebrated for the first time this year.
The seminar, held under the patronage of Dr. Hala bint Mazyad Al-Tuwaijri, the President of the Human Rights Commission, brought together experts from government sectors, civil society organizations, and various stakeholders in the field.
During the event, experts lauded the Kingdom's exemplary commitment to elderly care, emphasizing the significant attention given to this matter under the leadership of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and the unwavering support of HRH Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
The participants highlighted the legal framework supporting elderly care in Saudi Arabia, including the "Elderly Rights and Care Law." They discussed the comprehensive strategies, plans, and the alignment with Vision 2030's objectives aimed at enhancing the well-being and quality of life for the elderly through various programs and initiatives. It was emphasized that the Kingdom serves as a global model for elderly care and upholding their rights.
