Riyadh, November 18, 2023, The Executive Board of the Union Internationale de Pentathlon Moderne (UIPM) has unanimously approved Riyadh as the host city for the union's General Assembly (Congress) in November 2024. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia submitted its bid for the event on March 14, successfully fulfilling all necessary commitments and approvals by September of the same year.
Nasser Al-Dughether, President of the Saudi Modern Pentathlon Federation, expressed gratitude to the Saudi leadership for their unwavering support in securing the hosting rights. He specifically commended Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki bin Faisal bin Abdulaziz, the Minister of Sports and President of the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee, as well as Prince Fahd bin Jalawi bin Abdulaziz bin Musaed, the committee’s vice-president, for their diligent oversight throughout the process.
The selection of Riyadh as the host city for the UIPM General Assembly in 2024 is a testament to Saudi Arabia's commitment to sports and its growing stature as a destination for international events.
