The announcement follows a decision by the Italian football league system, Lega Serie, during a general assembly meeting.
Italy’s Lega Serie unveiled the schedule for the Super Cup, which will feature an exciting lineup of four top-flight teams. The participating clubs represent the winners and runners-up of both the league and the Italian Cup (Coppa Italia). In a nod to Spain's Super Cup format, Italy has expanded the competition to include the runners-up alongside the champions, starting from 2024.
The four clubs set to showcase their football prowess in Riyadh are Napoli (Italian champions), Lazio (runners-up), Inter (Coppa Italia winners), and Fiorentina (Coppa Italia finalists). The tournament's opening match on January 18 will see Napoli facing Fiorentina at Al-Awwal Park Stadium, with the clash between Inter and Lazio following the next day.
