Riyadh, November 23, 2023, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, has been chosen as the official host for the 27th World Energy Congress, scheduled to take place from October 26 to 29, 2026. The Riyadh Front Centre, situated in the vibrant heart of the capital and at the center of one of the world’s most critical energy regions, will serve as the venue for this prestigious event.
The decision to award Riyadh the hosting rights followed a highly competitive bidding process, open to all of the World Energy Council’s 70+ national member committees representing over 3,000 organizations across the entire energy spectrum.
The World Energy Congress, recognized as the world’s most prestigious, inclusive, and influential energy event, has played a significant role in driving energy transitions for more than a century. By bringing together stakeholders from all corners of the world representing diverse energy interests, the Congress has been instrumental in shaping global energy discussions.
Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman Al Saud, Minister of Energy and Chairman of the Saudi Arabia member committee, expressed pleasure at being awarded the opportunity to host the 2026 World Energy Congress. He highlighted the special significance of the Congress, which brings together stakeholders from energy producers to consumers, aligning with the Kingdom's efforts to achieve the sustainability objectives of Vision 2030.
Dr. Mike Howard, Chair of the World Energy Council Officers Council, commended Saudi Arabia's competitive bid, citing its strategic vision for the World Energy Congress experience, backed by strong institutional and government support.
The 27th World Energy Congress is expected to feature 150+ C-suite speakers, 250+ speakers, 70+ Ministers, and bring together over 7,000 international energy stakeholders. It aims to unify sectors, geographies, and systems to foster a more equitable energy transition.
Dr. Angela Wilkinson, Secretary General and CEO of the World Energy Council, congratulated Saudi Arabia for its successful bid, emphasizing the importance of collaborations across all energy interests. She highlighted the World Energy Congress's role in compelling world energy leadership to make faster, fairer, and more far-reaching energy transitions.
Saudi Arabia will officially assume the role of host for the World Energy Congress after the upcoming 26th World Energy Congress scheduled to take place in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. Saudi Arabia will also host a country pavilion at this prestigious event. Following the 2024 World Energy Congress, the Congress will transition to a two-year cycle.
