Riyadh to Host Final Round of Aramco Golf Championship

Riyadh, October 14, 2024 – Golf Saudi has officially announced the countdown to the much-anticipated final round of the 2024 Aramco Team Championship, presented by the Public Investment Fund. The prestigious tournament will be held at the Riyadh Golf Club from October 31 to November 2, 2024, attracting some of the world’s top female golfers for a thrilling showdown.

The Aramco Team Championship is one of the most prominent events in women’s golf, featuring a unique format that combines individual and team play. Teams are composed of three professionals and one amateur, offering a distinctive dynamic to the competition. With a $5 million prize fund, it has become a must-watch event in the global golf calendar.

Among the star-studded lineup, Alison Lee, the reigning champion, will return to defend her title. Lee made history in the 2023 tournament, shooting a record-breaking 65 in the final round and setting a new 54-hole record on the Ladies European Tour. Her impressive performance cemented her victory and added to her growing reputation as one of the sport's rising stars. “I’m thrilled to be back in Riyadh,” said Lee. “Winning here last year was a major highlight of my career, and I can’t wait to come back with the same energy and focus to defend my title.”

Another key player returning to Riyadh is Thailand’s Patty Tavatanakit, currently ranked No. 16 in the world. Tavatanakit already has a strong connection to the Riyadh Golf Club, having won the Saudi Ladies International earlier this year on the same course. Her return sets up an exciting rematch between some of the world’s top talent.

The Aramco Team Championship is part of a global series that has already seen exciting stops in Tampa, Korea, London, and Shenzhen, where international players have taken home the trophy. Past winners of the series include Leona Maguire from Ireland, Hyo-Joo Kim from Korea, and Alexandra Försterling from Germany. With Riyadh serving as the final stop of the 2024 season, the championship is expected to deliver high-octane competition and an electrifying conclusion to the year’s tour.

As excitement builds for the tournament’s return to Saudi Arabia, Golf Saudi continues to play a pivotal role in promoting the sport, particularly for women, and positioning the Kingdom as a premier destination for international golf events. This year’s tournament promises not only to showcase world-class talent but also to enhance the growing profile of Saudi Arabia in the global sporting arena.
