Roads Authority: Ongoing Projects Boost Economic, Tourism, and Social Development in Al-Baha

September 30, 2024, marks a significant milestone for the road network in Al-Baha, Saudi Arabia, as it has played a pivotal role in supporting the region's economic, tourism, and social growth over the years. The extensive road infrastructure, which connects the region's governorates and links Al-Baha with neighboring areas, has been a key driver of progress and development in the region.

One of the most notable developments in recent years is the construction of new roads and highways in Al-Baha. The Roads General Authority has undertaken several projects in this regard, including the construction of a 22-kilometer road connecting Baljurashi and Al-Aqiq, which has been completed at a cost of SAR 219 million. This new road is expected to improve connectivity and facilitate trade between the two towns, thereby boosting economic growth and development in the region.

Another significant project is the duplication of the Al-Makhwah-Al-Majardah road, which is currently at 65% completion. This project is aimed at improving road safety and reducing traffic congestion in the area. The construction of a 23-kilometer road connecting Al-Qura and Al-Aqiq, which is 56% complete, is also expected to improve connectivity and reduce travel time between the two towns.

The Roads General Authority has also completed 34 kilometers of agricultural roads, costing SAR 39 million, which will support the agricultural sector and rural communities in Al-Baha. These projects are part of a broader strategy to improve road infrastructure and enhance the quality of life for residents and visitors alike.

In addition to these projects, the authority is committed to implementing vital initiatives to achieve the objectives of the Roads Sector Strategy. These objectives include reducing road deaths to less than five cases per 100,000 people, implementing traffic safety factors according to IRAP standards, and maintaining advanced service levels for the road network.

By focusing on safety, quality, and traffic relief, the roads authority aims to transform this part of Saudi Arabia's infrastructure and boost its global standing. The completion of these projects will not only improve connectivity and reduce travel time but also enhance the overall quality of life for residents and visitors alike.

Overall, the road network in Al-Baha is poised for further growth and development, driven by a commitment to safety, quality, and sustainability. As Saudi Arabia continues to develop its infrastructure and enhance its global standing, the road network in Al-Baha will play a vital role in supporting economic growth, tourism development, and social progress.
