Roads General Authority's Strategy Yields Significant Milestones


The Roads General Authority (RGA) in Saudi Arabia has made significant progress in improving the quality and safety of roads.


The RGA has established policies, standards, and procedures related to roads, including the establishment of a regional office for the International Road Assessment Programme (IRAP) and a road safety data center.


The RGA has achieved a road quality index of 5.7, placing Saudi Arabia among the top five G20 nations in this category, and has a high project completion record of over 90%.

RGA has accomplished a number of things, including the establishment of a regional office for the International Road Assessment Programme (IRAP) to increase international cooperation in road safety; the completion of the world's largest road safety survey, which confirms that more than 77% of Saudi Arabia's roads now meet stringent safety standards; and the establishment of a road safety data center to collect and analyze accident data and develop effective plans to reduce the number of accidents.The Roads and Highways Authority (RGA) has been responsible for improving Saudi Arabia's road infrastructure. The country's road quality index has reached 5.7, placing it among the top five G20 nations in this category. Through the use of performance-based maintenance contracts and contemporary bridge management systems, RGA manages to ensure the durability and safety of the road network throughout the country.In addition, the authority has demonstrated unparalleled success in project implementation, as evidenced by a road project completion record that exceeds 90%. The fact that this is the case suggests that the plan is successful in achieving its goals and enhancing Saudi Arabia's global standing as an important logistics hub.The RGA's objectives are to achieve a top-six global road quality rating, reduce the number of road fatalities, and increase the private sector's participation in road operations. The primary focus of this initiative is both the implementation of road safety measures across the network in accordance with IRAP requirements and the provision of advanced services to expand the road network's capacity.
