Rolls-Royce Motor Cars marks successful 2023 with robust sales and global demand

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars celebrated a highly successful year in 2023, reporting robust sales, increased demand for its products globally, and record levels of Bespoke commissions.

Chris Brownridge, the CEO of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, expressed his satisfaction with the extraordinary performance in 2023. The company witnessed strong sales in all regions and across its entire product portfolio. Notably, the launch of the all-electric Rolls-Royce Spectre garnered immense interest and demand, influencing the decision to adopt an ambitious "all-electric" strategy for future models.

The Bespoke commissions, known for their uniqueness and personalization, reached unprecedented levels in terms of both volume and value. Brownridge highlighted the significance of these commissions, emphasizing the brand's position in the luxury sector, offering clients exclusive opportunities for self-expression and personalization unmatched elsewhere.

While 2023 marked the discontinuation of the Wraith and Dawn models, it was particularly notable for the commencement of production and sales of the Rolls-Royce Spectre. The first-ever all-electric Rolls-Royce has not only attracted significant attention but has also secured orders extending into 2025, laying a strong foundation for the brand's future in the electric vehicle market.

The company's commitment to Bespoke was evident in the announcement of substantial new investments in the Home of Rolls-Royce at Goodwood to enhance capacity and capabilities for Bespoke and support the growth of Coachbuild. The global expansion of the Private Office network, with new offices in Shanghai and the plans for additional locations in Seoul and North America in 2024, has facilitated a higher level of client engagement and a notable increase in Bespoke demand.

Rolls-Royce reported global sales of 6,032 motor cars in 2023, aligned with its status as a luxury house rather than a volume-driven manufacturer. The sales performance reflected the brand's commitment to meeting and exceeding clients' expectations by offering unparalleled customization options and a unique ownership experience.

The Bespoke program, which allows clients to personalize every aspect of their motor cars, reached new heights in 2023, with numerous groundbreaking projects and technical innovations. The Coachbuild initiative, a highly collaborative process for creating bespoke motor cars, saw the introduction of Droptail, the first true two-seater roadster built by Rolls-Royce in over 50 years.

Rolls-Royce Spectre, the all-electric model, marked a significant milestone for the brand, with the first client deliveries taking place in the autumn of 2023. The electric vehicle has garnered substantial interest, particularly among younger clients, reaffirming the brand's commitment to an all-electric future by the end of 2030.

In terms of economic impact, an independent study by the London School of Economics (LSE) calculated Rolls-Royce's total contribution to the UK economy at over £4 billion since 2003, with an annual contribution exceeding £500 million.

Looking ahead, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars is set to build on its success, with plans for significant investments, facility upgrades, and continued innovation, reinforcing its position as a leader in the luxury automotive sector.
