Rolls-Royce Motor Cars has unveiled four exclusive 'Year of the Dragon' Bespoke commissions to celebrate the Lunar New Year, which begins on February 10, 2024. Hand-crafted at the Home of Rolls-Royce at Goodwood, these unique creations include three Phantom Extended models and one Cullinan, showcasing a fusion of luxury and Chinese cultural elements.
Inspired by the dragon, a symbol of power, success, and prosperity in Chinese culture, these Bespoke commissions feature modern, minimalistic dragon motifs not seen before in Rolls-Royce vehicles. The three Phantom Extended models boast fascia panels adorned with hand-painted, contemporary dragon artworks, representing the color red, a symbol of prosperity and good fortune. The intricate artworks, taking over two weeks each to complete, use a multi-layered technique with different hues of red, creating a stunning 3D effect.
The dragon motif extends to the interior, with Phoenix Red stitching on the headrests of the four seats, providing a striking contrast with Black or White seat leather. The rear Piano Black picnic tables incorporate a minimalist representation of the Chinese zodiac calendar, with the dragon highlighted in gold. The Bespoke Starlight Headliner, featuring an abstract dragon motif, is a dramatic expression of the mythical creature, with 677 individually placed fiber-optic 'stars' forming the motif above the driver and passenger seats.
The exterior coachwork showcases unique colorways for each model, including a duotone Cherry Red with Crystal finish over Selby Grey for the Cullinan and two-tone Silver and Cherry Red or monolithic Black with a Crystal finish for the Phantom Extended models. A Bespoke coachline, hand-painted in Phoenix Red, subtly incorporates a dragon motif facing right, symbolizing the direction of the rising sun.
Each commission is a testament to Rolls-Royce's dedication to Bespoke craftsmanship, blending traditional artistry with contemporary design to create exceptional and personalized luxury vehicles.
