MIAMI GARDENS, March 29, 2025: World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka powered into her first Miami Open final with a dominant 6-2, 6-2 victory over Italy’s Jasmine Paolini.
Sabalenka took just 71 minutes to defeat the sixth seed and will now face either American Jessica Pegula or wildcard Alexandra Eala in the championship match. The Belarusian, who recently fell to Mirra Andreeva in the Indian Wells final, is determined to claim the Miami title.
“I’m super happy with my level today and excited to be in my first Miami Open final,” Sabalenka said.
Sabalenka controlled the match from the start, with Paolini only managing to tie the score at 1-1 in each set. She fired six aces and broke her opponent’s serve four times.
“This was one of my best matches of the season. Everything just seemed to go my way,” Sabalenka added.
The 26-year-old is eager to move past her recent finals losses at Indian Wells and the Australian Open, where she was defeated by Madison Keys.
“The key lesson is to focus on myself rather than my opponent. In those finals, I was too concerned with the other side of the net. This time, I’ll bring the same mindset I had today,” she explained.
Sabalenka is now the sixth woman to reach both the Indian Wells and Miami Open finals in the same season.
