SALEEM program starts tour of China, Japan, and Korea

Riyadh, January 08, 2024, The Saudi Product Safety Program (SALEEM) has embarked on a tour of China, Japan, and Korea, commencing today. The primary objective of this initiative is to provide valuable insights into conformity assessment procedures and market entry requirements in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Led by Dr. Saad bin Othman Al-Kasabi, the Governor of the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO), along with other SASO officials, the tour aims to strengthen ties with manufacturers and exporters in these Asian countries. SALEEM is one of SASO's initiatives aligned with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030, focusing on increasing the proportion of products adhering to standard specifications. Notably, the percentage of conforming products in the Saudi market has risen to 82.17%, a significant increase from 58% in 2016.

The tour includes bilateral meetings and workshops that address challenges faced by manufacturers and exporters in the Asian countries visited. The overarching goal is to promote bilateral trade, strengthen partnerships, and enhance the competitiveness of the Saudi market, thereby contributing to the growth of the national economy.

This initiative reflects SASO's commitment to sharing Saudi Arabia's product safety expertise, fostering international communication with manufacturers and exporters, and creating awareness about standards, regulations, and conformity verification. By doing so, SASO aims to facilitate trade, reduce technical barriers, and contribute to the continued development of a robust and compliant marketplace.
