Hangzhou, January 31, 2024, The Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) has initiated on-site inspections to assess accredited entities involved in conformity assessment, as part of its ongoing commitment to achieving the highest standards of quality and safety.
A Saudi audit team is currently conducting evaluations in Hangzhou, People’s Republic of China, aimed at scrutinizing the quality of outputs from accredited agencies responsible for assessing the conformity of imported goods. The primary goal is to ensure these agencies adhere to the requirements outlined in Saudi technical regulations and standards.
This initiative is integral to the Saudi Product Safety Program (SALEEM), designed to verify the compliance of Chinese goods and products with Saudi technical specifications and regulations. The expected outcome is a positive impact on product quality, contributing to an elevated conformity index within Saudi markets.
SASO has accredited a total of 565 bodies involved in various areas of conformity assessment, both within and outside the Kingdom. This reflects SASO's advanced expertise and leadership in the field, underlining its commitment to maintaining and enhancing the quality and safety standards of products entering the Saudi market.
