Saudi ambassadors explore Klija Festival 2024, showcasing local traditional desserts

Buraidah, February 19, 2024, Several ambassadors and their families in Saudi Arabia recently visited the Klija Festival 2024 in Buraidah, where they were introduced to various products offered by local producers and companies specializing in the production of klija, a traditional Saudi dessert consisting of date-molasses-filled cookies, along with other Saudi traditional dishes.

The ambassadors had the opportunity to learn about the cultural significance of klija for the citizens of the region and participate in numerous events hosted at the King Khalid Cultural Center. Ambassador Mohammad Habibu Tijani of Ghana praised the festival as an exceptional experience that showcases a range of economic activities. He expressed admiration for the organizers and local producers, acknowledging their efforts in promoting the region's cuisine and handicrafts.

Ambassador Anu-Eerika Viljanen of the Republic of Finland described the visit to the 15th edition of the traditional Klija Festival as wonderful and memorable. She commended the festival for its rich heritage and praised the families involved in the cottage industry for uniquely presenting the traditional dessert.

Algerian Ambassador Sharif Walid also lauded the efforts to spotlight a popular product that holds historical significance in the region. He emphasized that the klija industry contributes to achieving various professional and practical goals, ensuring the continuity of work for families engaged in the cottage industry.

The Klija Festival serves as a platform to celebrate and promote traditional Saudi cuisine, cultural heritage, and the craftsmanship of local producers. The positive response from ambassadors reflects the festival's success in showcasing the region's cultural and economic aspects.
