Astana, March 07, 2023, In the presence of Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Kemeluly, Saudi Minister of Energy Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, and Kazakh Minister of Energy Almasadam Satkaliyev, an executive program for cooperation between the Saudi and Kazakh governments was signed. This program falls under the memorandum of understanding signed by the two countries in June 2023, encompassing collaboration in various energy sectors, including oil, natural gas, derivatives, petrochemicals, electricity, clean hydrogen, renewables, energy efficiency, and storage.
The primary objectives of the program include the implementation of projects in Kazakhstan focused on renewable energy, innovations, and efforts to combat global warming. Additionally, the program aims to promote projects aligned with the goals, priorities, and commitments of both countries in the realms of energy security and transformations. Major projects related to energy production and storage, including electricity projects, are part of the program and are expected to significantly contribute to the shared objectives of Saudi Arabia and Kazakhstan.
Furthermore, the program supports Kazakhstan's efforts to achieve its emissions reduction goals, including the target of carbon neutrality by 2060. It also emphasizes the enhancement of cooperation between Saudi and Kazakh companies in various related fields, fostering collaboration and mutual benefit in the energy sector.
