On September 17, 2024, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia announced a major initiative to localize rose cultivation and production. This effort aims to meet rising local demand, create new jobs in agriculture, and address the issues of high costs and lower quality associated with imported roses. The initiative also seeks to open export markets for Saudi roses in the Gulf and Middle Eastern regions, supporting the growth of the agricultural sector in line with Saudi Vision 2030. The Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture has introduced several incentives, including financial support and resources to enhance rose farming. Notable incentives include advancements in tissue culture rose cultivation, access to affordable agricultural land, investment opportunities, and loans covering a significant portion of project costs. The ministry will also provide technical support and automate licensing processes, with a focus on utilizing advanced technologies and smart systems to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
