Riyadh, January 16, 2025 – The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has expressed its strong support for the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, which was reached recently as a result of the collaborative efforts of the State of Qatar, the Arab Republic of Egypt, and the United States of America. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed the development, recognizing the critical role these nations played in facilitating the ceasefire and calling for full adherence to its terms.
The Kingdom reiterated its call for an immediate halt to Israeli aggression in Gaza, underscoring the importance of ensuring the complete withdrawal of Israeli occupation forces from the Gaza Strip, as well as from all other Palestinian and Arab territories. Saudi Arabia also emphasized the urgent need for the safe return of displaced persons to their homes, a vital step toward restoring stability and addressing the humanitarian crisis that has long plagued the region.
In its statement, the Kingdom highlighted the necessity of building on this ceasefire agreement to tackle the root causes of the ongoing conflict. Saudi Arabia firmly believes that a sustainable and lasting peace can only be achieved by enabling the Palestinian people to fully exercise their rights, with the establishment of an independent Palestinian state as a central component of any solution. Moreover, the Ministry expressed deep concern over the human toll the conflict has taken, noting that more than 45,000 lives have been lost and over 100,000 individuals injured as a result of the ongoing violence. Saudi Arabia stressed that this ceasefire agreement provides a glimmer of hope for an end to the brutal war, which has caused immense suffering for the people of Gaza and beyond. The Kingdom’s position remains steadfast in its commitment to supporting the Palestinian cause and working with international partners to bring about a comprehensive and peaceful resolution to the longstanding Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
